About
About the Foret Lab
The Foret Lab is an academic research group studying the structure, function, and resilience of natural systems. Founded on the principles of open science and collaborative inquiry, we develop and apply quantitative methods to questions that matter for both science and society.
Our approach
- Reproducible research. All of our analyses are built on open data and open-source tools, so that our results can be verified and extended by others.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration. We work across ecology, statistics, and computer science, partnering with researchers and practitioners worldwide.
- Mentorship. Training the next generation of scientists is central to our mission. We support students at every stage, from undergraduates to postdocs.
Where we work
The lab is based within the Department of Environmental Science. Our fieldwork spans temperate and boreal forest sites, while our computational work happens both on campus and through high-performance computing collaborations.
Funding & acknowledgements
Our research is supported by competitive grants from national science agencies and private foundations. We are grateful to our funders, collaborators, and the communities that host our field sites.
